TEACHING
PHILOSOPHY

While my philosophy of teaching, particularly with technology, has evolved over the years, I most closely align with the Social Constructivism theory of teaching and learning.

Since I agree that students draw heavily from their culture, language, and knowledge to which they are exposed, I believe a big part of teaching is cultivating a safe, creative space where students feel free to explore, be their whole selves, make mistakes, speak their own thoughts, see their value, and learn from and with others.

Removing anxiety in the learning environment and including self-reflection in the learning process is central to my research.

As a teacher, this involves preparation, organization, a flexible plan, and a willingness to learn from and with my students. I believe students learn best by doing, with practice toward mastery, real-world application, and engaged curiosity driving the learning.
